Welcome to the Kate and Gin Blog
So many exciting things have happened to Gin & I since we appeared in the finals of the second series of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent back in May that I really don’t know where to begin; so I will include the highlights:-
In June we joined the other Britain’s Got Talent finalists on the nationwide Britain Got Talent Live Tour 2008.
Gin loved this experience and had her own space on the tour bus where she had all her own creature comforts. She soon adopted the role of tour bus pet where she was happy to receive cuddles and pats from other finalists missing their own pets. Gin regularly enjoyed playing tug with George Sampson in the dressing rooms.
Having travelled to arena’s the length and breadth of the country our final performance was at The O2 Arena London in front of 6500 people. This was such an amazing experience and I did wonder whether any other dogs have ever performed at the O2 or whether Gin is the first?
We have been honoured to appear as guests on many TV shows including The Underdog Show final on Living TV, Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong on channel 4, The Alan Titchmarsh Show on ITV, Gordon Ramsay’s Cook Along Live on Channel 4 and The Ant & Dec Documentary on Channel 5.
Gin loved all these appearances but I think her favourite was probably Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong where she did a sketch with Alan as the sheep dog and Gin taking on the role of shepherd(ess), Gin wore cloth cap and waxed jacket in true country style! She also very much enjoyed appearing on Cook Along Live after all it is not everyday a dog gets her dinner cooked by Gordon Ramsay and Amanda Holden.
Gin and I were invited to a Premiere of Mama Mia during the summer. Having danced up the red carpet Gin thoroughly enjoyed watching the film and now is a big fan of Abba songs, hence you may have noticed that some of our summer dance routines have had Abba themes.
We have done many events and shows including Butlins, Children in Need ,Blackpool, Wag & Bone Show, Cold Wet Nose show and Gin even did a hydro therapy canine swimathon in aid of Support Dogs Charity.
On 6th October 2008 our book “Kate and Gin” was published by Harper Collins and is the story of our lives together including our journey through the auditions of Britain’s Got Talent to the final and beyond. There are also lots of step by step photos and instructions to help you train your dog to do lots of impressive tricks and Canine Freestyle moves. It is hard to stop Gin having her say so there are pages where Gin talks of her own life experiences and feelings too, giving plenty of Ginformation.
Throughout October and November we have had lots of fun doing book signings up and down the country meeting lots of fantastic people. Gin insisted that instead of me just signing the books on her behalf she had to put her paw print on every book. To make this a little easier I had a rubber stamp made of her actual paw print.
In September there was a small addition to the Kate & Gin duo in the form of a little 8 week old Border Collie puppy that I have named Ice (Kate & Gin with Ice). Ice has already started training and is proving that she has brains
from her clever sheepdog ancestry. She is a real little character that has started to meet the world-so watch her progress on this website and wherever Gin & I are, Ice will not be far away.
Gin has decided that Ice is quite good fun too but she sometimes
steals her toys so has to be kept in her place. You may notice that Ice looks very like a baby Gin but as far as we know they are not related, I wanted a short coated Collie like Gin and when I first saw Ice’s photo it was Gin as a puppy looking back at me.
On 1st December we came to Windsor to appear as special guest stars in Panto – Peter Pan at the Theatre Royal until 11th Jan 2009. This is a real new experience for Gin and I but it is great fun. Gin has been really good and practiced her lines every night before bed! She was not too keen on the pirates during rehearsals but now has accepted the rest of the cast and entered into the true spirit of Panto.
Gin & Ice love to run and play in Windsor Great Park every day and now treat our lovely apartment as home but I am sure Gin has aspirations to live in Windsor Castle as every time she passes the grand gates she looks in. Maybe she just wants to see the Queen and her Corgis. If you get the chance we would love to see you at the panto.
We promise to write our blog regularly from now on so keep visiting to see what we are getting up to.
Happy Christmas love from Kate, Gin & Ice
